Four tenure-track faculty positions in Neuroscience and Cardio-Vascular Physiology at the Assistant/Associate Professor level are available in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics, Howard University College of Medicine, Washington, DC – USA

Candidates should have a background in non-human primate neurophysiology with preference in oculomotor/vestibular/cortical anatomy-physiology to participate in establishing a new research center of Cognitive Neuroscience in Motion Perception and Spatial Orientation. Strong background in computational neuroscience is desirable. The research focus of the center will also include aspects of the impact of normal aging, and will aim to develop animal models to understand human pathophysiology and pathology, e.g., spatial hemineglect.

Another line of expertise for candidates within the departmental academic program is available in cardio-vascular research, preferably, but not limited to molecular cardiology in areas related to heart failure, cardiac hypertrophy and/or cardiac myopathy.

Start-up funds and initial salary compensation will be provided.
The candidates are expected to develop their own research programs within the broader programmatic outlines of the Department, and eventually obtain independent funding.
Teaching within the College of Medicine’s curricula will be required as needed and in keeping with the candidate’s background.


The positions are to be filled during the Academic Year 2007/2008 or later, if no suitable candidates have been identified.
